Welcoming myself to the World of Blogging

Welcome to my Blog. . . FINALLY! After many hours and handfuls of hair being pulled out of my head I have stepped into the year 2013 and learned to blog (pat on the back to me)!

I have started this blog to give myself a platform to show my latest work (I call it work, but it really does’t feel like it). Im a photographer, still feels weird to say:) I have studied photography for a long time and have  always aspired to be a photographer, but for whatever reason never truely pursued it. I think I always ended up giving myself excuses. . . I don’t have enough time, no one would want to hire me, I should use my degree & stick with graphic design, I’m a mom, the equipment is too expensive (which will always be the case!), I’m not good enough, it’s too hard to learn. . . blah blah blah!

I spent countless hours swooning over a good friends work, Courtney Aaron and wanted to be in her shoes. Such talent and such fun, the life of a photographer! Meeting new people all the time and being able to transform their family, wedding day, new baby. . . whatever it was into a moment that would last forever was something that I wanted so badly to be a part of. After I had my first son I bought a “nicer” camera and slowly began to learn how to use it. I had previously used an old school 35mm camera that was my mom’s from the 70’s (cool, but not going to cut it!) I started to get the hang of things and ended up with some pretty good shots of my little guy. Being 28 and having lots of friends who were also having kids at the time  I was in the perfect situation to use them for practice! When I asked they said yes! Lucky me! One thing lead to another and before I knew it a friend had referred me to another friend to shoot her wedding! I really hadn’t even thought that far at the time, but since her wedding wasn’t for another year, I thought why the heck not!? I’ll have the year to gain more experience and get ready. Since I booked that first wedding, (which hasn’t even happened yet!) I’ve shot 3 others and shadowed a few more with new friends from Colby Elizabeth Photography! Since the first wedding I shot, Jenn & Dean’s along with good friend Jessi Mills,  I was hooked! I’ve always loved weddings and everything about them, and now getting to be a part of such a special day and capture details and emotions was so amazing for me!

I’ve had so much fun photographing each and every person I have to this date. Whether it be an expectant mom, a family of generations, a brand new baby, two peoples vowing to spend a life together,  newly engaged lovebirds or anyone in-between I am lucky to be able to call this my “job”. As time goes on I hope to be able to create many more memories for families and friends to have as well as memories I can say I shared.

A HUGE thank you goes out to all of my friends and family that have helped me get started and who have referred me to their friends and family. Without these wonderful people I would not be even close to where I am right now. Thank you again!

And for now. . . My boys! They are the light of my life and the real reason I do this! My test subjects everyday! Who wouldn’t want to take a gazillion photos of these amazing faces!?
