Cody & Sydney said their vows this summer on the lawn at Colorado University. These two both grew up in Longmont and have known each other since high school. They didn’t date until later when a mutual friend “re-aquatinted” them, but they’ve been inseparable ever since! They both share a love of craft beer and thought what better than to share their love with their guests by having their reception at a brewery! They decide on a local spot, The Oak Room which is Oskar Blues’ reception space. Guests chose from a variety of food from 2 food trucks and sipped on craft beer. Pretty much the perfect, casual and super fun wedding!
I had asked Cody & Sydney about how they got engaged and this is what they told me:
“Our happy place is Winter Park. In the winter we are up there as much as we possibly can be. Sydney had always wanted to take a picture with a photographer at the top of Winter Park, but for some reason we never did. I really wanted to propose in Winter Park because of how special it was to us, but I wasn’t sure how to go about it. Thankfully, this idea popped in my head and we killed three birds with one stone. 1. Photographer to capture the moment, 2. take a picture at the top, and 3. get engaged at winter park! I was convinced that Sydney knew what was going on, but she claims she didn’t. I invited a lot of our close friends and some family up and I assumed that might give it away. I was at the top of the mountain waiting for Sydney and several of our other friends to meet up with us. I took these last few moments as a single man to chug a beer to try and calm my nerves, but it did not work. Once our entire crew made it to the top I asked if everyone wanted to take a group picture. Everyone knowing what was going on quickly said yes, and I immediately started getting nervous After several group pictures I asked Sydney if she wanted to take a couple picture. Now, from here on out I am little foggy. I had a few words planned in my mind to say, but my nerves got the best of me and I am not sure what came out. All I know is she said yes, and it was the best day of our lives.”
