Before this trip was planned it was decided by my best friend Shaina & I that once we were done with being pregnant, having babies and finished breast feeding we would treat ourselves to a tropical vacation! It was a dream that became a reality last week! Four of us mommas, Shaina, Jodi, Annie and myself set off for Riviera Maya, Mexico and let me tell you . . . had a BLAST! It was magical not having anyone tugging on you or asking for a sandwich or needing a snack or wanting this or wanting that or whining or needing a butt wiped! Magical. . . wait did I say it. . . MAGICAL! Us moms need a break! And I’m not saying just a night out with the girls for wine (although that it much appreciated!) but a real break! A break from the constant people that NEED you ALL. THE. TIME. We love our families, obviously and doesn’t need to be said, but you need a period of rejuvenation. To come back fresh and with a better sense of tolerance and compassion. We get wrapped up in the day to day monotony of it all and all deserve a vacation from the real world! SO, here’s where Mexico enters your life! (or anywhere else tropical!) Im realizing that the key to coming home rejuvenated is intense relaxation! So many trips we plan we are doing this one day, doing that one day. Trying to see it all, do it all and when you get home you need a vacation from your vacation, am I right!? This trip we had 5 days to spend doing pretty much nothing and it was FABULOUS! We did do a little half day excursion to snorkel in some awesome locations (we’d booked that prior to the trip on http://www.wahinecharters.com/project/private-charters/), but besides that it was R&R baby! The biggest decisions of the day were pool or beach? Pina Colada or Electric Lemonade? Sweet or savory crepe? Pure BLISS! We stayed at Dreams Puerto Adventuras Resort and it was awesome! All inclusive and great staff! I’d recommend it to anyone! My only criticism would be that the beach wasn’t long enough. . . we were in a little cove type of area and there wasn’t really a long stretch of beach you could take a walk on (not that I would’ve entertained the idea of exercise, but might have been nice!) But everything else was great!
Spending 5 days with some awesome friends was priceless as well:) I’m so glad we got to hang together for that long and share some pretty hilarious moments. I’m pretty sure we didn’t stop laughing the entire time! Next trip planning needs to commence immediately! Who’s in??Jodi, Shaina, Annie
