Megan & Brian’s Fall Engagement Session | Davidson Mesa Trail

I absolutely love meeting new couples and when they turn out to be super awesome like these two, it just hits home why I love my job so much. This was our first time meeting and we had decided to shoot their engagement session at Davidson Mesa Trail in Louisville. They met in Boulder, while both attending CU and wanted some mountain views in the background. I suggested the area, but had never been there before. . . I had seen photos and knew it was really pretty! As I always do, I left my house about 15 minutes early so I could get there and scope out the great spots for photos. My GPS said that it would take me 25 minutes to get there so I was all set! My GPS says I’m about 4 miles away and I hit a massive construction zone and it lets me know the next 3 miles will take me 17 minutes! WHAT?! So I text Megan and let her know I might be a minute or two late. Well that 17 minutes turns into about 30 and THEN my gps takes me completely to the WRONG trailhead! (I call Megan again, apologize profusely!) I have to turn around and sit in that construction traffic going the OTHER WAY! JEEZ! At this point I’m literally sweating and my hands are shaking. If there if one thing I absolutely hate. . . it’s being late! Anywhere I go, not just shoots. Anyway, after freaking out and cursing my gps I FINALLY make it to the right spot. I was literally 30 seconds from the right spot when my GPS took me through that ridiculous construction zone in the first place! (MORE cursing!) I again, apologized profusely and felt like such an idiot! Way to make a great first impression, right!?

Well I wouldn’t normally have told you all this story, but Megan & Brian were so great and they acted like it was no big deal. We had a great shoot with their 2 chocolate labs, Avery & Wilson! I delivered the photos to them less than 48hrs later and thanked them again for being so understanding. You never know how people will react and thankfully these two are great! They hadn’t hired me as their wedding photographer yet since they aren’t planning to get married until 2017. Megan is in the middle of her residency and wants to wait until she is finished to really be able to enjoy herself. Well I guess they had a great time and must have liked me (enough!) and loved the photos cause they booked me for their wedding the next day, recommended me to Brian’s sister for her engagement photos (which we have scheduled for November!) and I’ve also already gotten a wedding inquiry from one of their friends:) Woohoo! I can’t wait to photograph their wedding and have the chance to hang out with them again. Oh and I already promised I wouldn’t be late to the wedding! I know where I’m going this time!

Enjoy these gorgeous pics of these two pretty rad people!
