A Boulder, Colorado Engagement Session | Courtney & Nathan

Courtney contacted me what seems like forever ago about their wedding day! They had a long engagement but wanted to get a few of their “bigger vendors” booked quickly! So I feel like I had known Courtney and Nathan for a long time before I ever even met them a few weeks ago! We had the most beautiful evening and had a chance to formally meet and hang out while getting some pretty beautiful photos! Courtney rocked a floor length, sequined gown on top of a mountain. . . pretty amazing if you ask me! I always tell my couples that they want to feel like themselves when deciding on outfits for their engagement session, but since it’s once in a lifetime situation step it up a notch! (Or two!) These guys took that to heart and looked like a million bucks!

I asked Courtney and Nathan to provide some insight to other newly engaged couples on some important wedding planning decisions. This is what they had to say:

How long of an engagement will you have before wedding day?

We were engaged for 2.5 years! But that is because we were planning from CA and wanted to wait until residency was over for our wedding.

What are your top 3 priorities for your wedding?

Photographer!!- Pictures are one of the only things from your wedding you will have to look back on. Videographer- again one of the only things you’ll have from that day Venue- you need a great memorable place for all those photos and videos!

What 3 vendors did you book first?

Photographer. Venue (spruce mountain). Caterer.

What has been the most fun about planning your wedding?

Finding amazing vendors who can see your vision and help create and expand it. Also engagement photos, it’s amazing looking back on those memories and day dreaming about the wedding day!

What is something you wish you had known at the beginning of the wedding planning process?

Make sure you book your top vendors ASAP. I was lucky enough to have two years to plan so I got all my top vendors. But, good vendors always book far in advance so nail down your must haves and secure them.

Any extra advice you’d give future couples when planning their wedding?

Get a month-of wedding planner. They come with great advise and take a lot of the worries away. Especially if you are planning from another state and can’t vet every vendor.

Thanks Courtney & Nathan! Can’t wait to celebrate with you!
